Good afternoon Fort McMurray Catholic Schools families,
As you may already be aware the Provincial Government today announced their plans for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11 years old. Please follow this link to see the announcement in its entirety.
There are a few items from this announcement Fort McMurray Catholic Schools would like to highlight for our families:
- As with all COVID-19 vaccinations, this is voluntary and not mandated
- The online booking process is scheduled to open at 8am on November 24, 2021
- Dr Deena Hinshaw will be hosting a telephone town hall next week to share more information about COVID-19 vaccination
Alberta Health Services is sharing information related to vaccination for our children:
- Alberta Health Services Immunization for Children Under 12 homepage
- Alberta Health Services Vaccination Q&A
- Alberta Health Services Help Take Down COVID-zilla!
We know several families plan to travel this coming Christmas season, many internationally. We wish you safe and exciting travels. At the same time we also wish to remind you of the current federal protocol when it comes to unvaccinated minors returning to Canada. According to the current rules an unvaccinated child under 12 does not need to isolate (stay at home and not leave) for 2 weeks upon their arrival home, but they must not attend school or daycare for 2 weeks upon their return to Canada.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools continues to remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family have any symptoms, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools
