Good afternoon Fort McMurray Catholic Schools family,
We hope you are all safe and healthy. We wish to reach out to you with an update regarding the relaunch of schools for the 2020/21 school year.
As you may have heard earlier today, Alberta Education Minister Adriana LaGrange has announced all Alberta schools will begin the 2020/21 school year under scenario #1 of the Alberta Education re-entry plan.
Scenario #1 means the resumption of in-school classes with additional health measures. In this scenario we are able to welcome back all students into our buildings and resume a somewhat normal school day schedule. This involves enhanced cleaning protocols, a degree of physical distancing among students, adjustments to how students enter and exit buildings, and changes to how we manage transitions between classrooms throughout the day.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is committed to following all guidelines and directives from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Alberta Health Services, and Alberta Education to ensure a safe re-entry to our school facilities.
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools has created this Relaunch Guide for the 2020/21 school year. This document is intended to share as much information as possible with our staff and families as we prepare for the relaunch of in class instruction. We know this can be an overwhelming amount of information, which is why we want you to have as much time as possible to digest this all.
We have also created this Frequently Asked Questions document to assist you with preparing for the 2020/21 school year.
As we walk through these times together we want to reassure you we will be with you every step of the way. We will continue to share information with you all as we get closer to the start of the school year.
We hope you are having a good summer and finding ways to relax and rejuvenate.
God Bless,
George McGuigan
Superintendent of Schools
